Principal Letter

At Broad Street, we are committed to the success of every child. We know not every student starts on the same playing field. Among our students are English language learners, students with special needs, those who have experienced trauma, those living in poverty, and those who may face unconscious biases about their abilities. Our teachers are dedicated to getting to know your child—not just as a student, but as a unique individual. We set high expectations and support them every step of the way as they reach their potential.

We also work hard to help children learn patience and resilience in a safe environment. Mistakes are not only expected—they’re encouraged as opportunities to learn! We remind students that it’s not how many times you fall that matters; it’s how many times you get back up. (And if you need a hand getting up, we’re here for that, too!) We’ll also help your child understand what it means to be a safe, responsible, and respectful member of our community.

Of course, we can’t do all this without your help! A strong partnership between home and school is essential to helping your child get the best education possible. I encourage you to be engaged: ask about their day (even if you only get a shrug!), check their backpack (sometimes treasures are hiding in there), help with homework, participate in school events, and join the PTO! If you have questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to call the school, email your child’s teacher, or reach out to me directly.
